Yoni Mudra

PURPOSE: Yoni means “womb space” and mudra means “seal”; thus this is the yogic practice of returning to the state of mind experienced in the womb. Yoni mudra is often used to awaken the kundalini, bringing about higher states of consciousness. It can also be used to contemplate the void. In shamanism it is used to detach from the outer world and activate inner reality. By closing off the gates to the external senses, we open more subtle channels.
